AusTallow is a small, family-run operation on the New South Wales south coast. We render the tallow, we jar the balm, and we answer your emails. All three of those are the same people.
I'd watched my own skin get worse with every "clean" cream I trusted. Nothing dramatic — just tight, reactive, permanently one bad week away from flaring up. I did what you're supposed to do. I bought the expensive one. Then the gentler expensive one.
Then I actually read the bottles. Canola. Sunflower. Soybean. The same oxidising oils I'd already pulled out of my kitchen years earlier, sitting in the top five ingredients of the moisturiser I was paying a premium for.
So I rendered a batch of tallow at home, the way my grandparents would have. Slowly, in a heavy pot, strained through cloth. Three ingredients because I only had three ingredients. By Friday my skin had stopped fighting back.
I didn't set out to start a company. I set out to stop buying the other stuff. The company happened because everyone who tried a jar asked for another one.

Three steps, in this order, every batch. There isn't a faster version of this that we'd be willing to sell you.
Suet trimmings from 100% grass-fed Australian cattle, slow-cooked over low heat until the pure fat separates out. No solvents, no chemical extraction, no shortcuts. Heat and time do the whole job.
Filtered four to six times through fine cloth until the tallow runs silk-smooth and odour-neutral. This is the step everyone skips, and it's the reason cheap tallow smells like a roast dinner.
Blended with Australian beeswax and cold-pressed Australian extra-virgin olive oil, then poured warm into glass. Small batches, hand-packed, on Australian soil.
A short supply chain isn't a marketing angle. It's the only reason we can show you the pot.

Rendered from regeneratively raised, 100% grass-fed Australian cattle — never imported feedlot fat. Grass-fed suet carries meaningfully more vitamin A, D, E, K and CLA than grain-finished, and it is the ingredient doing the heavy lifting in the jar.
Australian beeswax forms a light, breathable seal that holds your own moisture in and takes the edge off sun, wind and dry air — without the suffocating synthetic film a silicone gives you.
Extra-virgin, cold-pressed and local. Naturally high in antioxidants and polyphenols, it softens the balm to a spreadable texture. It is the only oil in the jar, and it is not a seed oil.
Some of these would make the balm cheaper to produce, easier to ship and longer-lasting on a shelf. That's rather the point.
We'd rather you kept using something that works than bought something from us that doesn't.
